MEET THE JOB SHARING MATCH MAKER

Job sharing is a simple idea that could change the employment market forever.

Sharing a job can allow people to pursue a genuine work-life balance and gives employers a chance to attract and retain workers with a wider range of skills and higher rates of productivity compared to full-time colleagues.

All that needs to happen is for two people who want to share their similar jobs to track each other down.

Which is where Shareyourjob.com comes in. Completely free to use this ‘dating-agency’ style service allows people to register to find potential job share partners who are compatible with their skills, location and level of experience.

It features a list of current job share vacancies and advice and information on how to facilitate a successful job share arrangement (and then how to make the most of it) as well as a discussion forum where interested job sharers can talk to others in a similar situation.

People look to job share for a multitude of reasons and shareyourjob.com caters for them all. Whether you’re a mother looking to return to work part-time; have other caring responsibilities for a family member or friend or simply don’t want to work on a full time basis, it's worth registering and getting your details out there do you can begin the search for your perfect job share partner.

Not only that, but Share Your Job also has employers in mind too who want to make job sharing work within their organisation and allows them to promote job opportunities available to potential job sharers.

Shareyourjob.com was created by Elizabeth Barnard and Astrid Clifford who, as two professional working women, wanted to combine their time and responsibilities as mothers with meaningful jobs on a part-time basis. Having spent more than 15 years developing their careers before the birth of their children, they would have seriously considered a job share position with their existing employers. At the time though there was no facility to help them track down a suitable job share partner.

So they decided to create Shareyourjob.com.

Essentially, Elizabeth and Astrid want to give other workers – like them – the opportunity to look for a job share partner in an accessible and efficient way.

ShareYourJob.com couldn't be easier to use, simply create a profile of the job you'd like to share and search the database for suitable partners and your results are displayed just like a Google search.

There’s no doubt about it, with more and more mothers wanting to balance a career and income with being a mum and Dad's set to share parental leave from 2015 onwards job sharing is set to become a no brainer for both potential employees and employers.
